What is a terrarium?
A terrarium is a miniature garden that lives inside a small, often closed glass container. Terrariums are living eco systems as the plants and soil inside the closed glass container release water vapor which trickles down the wall of the container and ultimately waters your plant.
Terrariums are ideal low maintenance plant options as they need very little care.

What layers are required inside a terrarium?
There are many different materials that you can use to build the inside of your terrarium. Our terrariums include the following layers:
- pebbles for drainage
- activated charcoal to remove bacteria and fungi
- sphagnum moss for moisture retention
- a healthy, peat free soil mixed with perlite, worm castings and coco coir
As long as your terrarium includes these staple materials, it should thrive with a little bit of care!

How do you look after a closed terrarium?
Because the closed terrarium forms water vapor, very little watering is required (if any!).
Terrariums with a loose fitting lid would roughly require watering every 3 months.
Terrariums like ours with a tight fitting cork lid does not generally require watering.
Place your terrarium in a bright spot, out of direct sunshine. Direct sun can potentially burn your plant.
If condensation forms inside of your terrarium, simply lift the lid and place it askew for about half hour or until the condensation disappears. Make sure to replace the lid when the terrarium is clear of condensation.
